wedding photographers Johannesburg

All experienced wedding photographers Johannesburg know that the best wedding photos are ones that are filled with various emotions. This is one reason why expensive and often highly skilled wedding photographers are experts at capturing emotions to tell the story of how a wedding unfolded. If you are an amateur photographer and wish to take your skills to the next level you'll need to learn how to capture emotions at events. Below we take a look at a few tips which should help a great deal.
Build a strong relationship with clients
As a wedding photographer the first thing you need to do is to determine if the client that just paid you a visit is right for the style of photography you indulge in. During the consulting phase make sure that you ask clients exactly what they want, and consider if they are prepared to accept your style. Once you decide to work for a client it is time to start developing and cultivating a strong, positive and communicative relationship. You are not expected to be their best friend but they have to trust you enough to follow your lead.
Always come prepared
If you hope to capture unique wedding moments that tell a wonderful story you need to come prepared to a wedding. You should come with 200mm, 80mm and 50mm lenses at the very least, in addition to extra batteries, four reflectors, four flashes etc. However, things may change at the last moment so you need to be prepared for this too.
Check your composition

If you capture an image that is either too soft or is imperfect technically you wouldn't want to share it with the couple. The pictures you deliver should be both technically and emotionally good because a bad picture of a great moment is equal to no picture. Always keep the basics in mind prior to taking a picture. Be mindful of f-stops and recomposing, also set the shutter speed to correlate with your selection of lens.
Awareness of the background

You should always be aware of the background when framing a shot. Having a random hand move through, or a person wandering in the background can ruin your picture. So, in addition to the subject focus on the frame as a whole. The background you choose should either enhance the picture or it needs to be simple.
An ongoing challenge

In order to become a better photographer as a whole you need to challenge yourself constantly. Challenge yourself to capture many moments in a single frame. With practice you'll be able to tell better more complex stories with these types of shots. For instance, you can capture the bride's mother helping her (the bride) put on a dress, while in the background the groom waits for her to get ready. The idea with these pictures is to have everyone that you snap in the frame be doing something that is interesting or helps to tell the story. Obviously capturing a wedding photo where everyone looks bored is not a good idea.
